Hope to see you soon!
At first a very pleasant mouthfeel of alcohol and softness. It is followed by a growing bitterness, which comes partly from hops, but also from roasted malt and chocolate malt. Towards the end, pleasant balance of bitter, sour and sweet notes.
Brewing beer is an age-old tradition on the Appelhoek in Melle. As early as 1654 we can find traces of a brewing activity at this place. From 1904, Léon Huyghe set his first steps in the local brewery.
In 1925 Léon Huyghe receives family reinforcement from son Albert and son-in-law Louis Droesbeque and the brewery is officially renamed Brewery L. Huyghe. Today Alain De Laet, the 4th generation Huyghe, is stirring the brewing kettles. The elephant that was born in 1989 has become an international icon.
